After an unusual day of - gasp - NO WIND - it howled back with avengeance today.

Back to the Event Site, and at 10 it was blowing 30, gusting 40 kts. My smallest sail here is a 4.5, so I down-and-outhauled it into next week and went out on the Mystery.

I had a pretty miserbale 45 minutes or so, getting blown about and not really having a good time.

Took a break and considered what to do... then decided I just needed to get out there & get on with it! Maybe it's dropped a bit, maybe I was more relaxed, but the next session was fantastic. Blasting over the chop, small jumps (most of them deliberate) and most of the way around my gybes... slick waterstarts too. After 90 mins or so, came in for lunch.

Good timing - 30 mins later everyone, and I mean ALL 20 or so people out there, was in the water. The wind had dropped viciously.

Derigged the 4.5, up with the 5.0, out with the Carve 123, and off I went again. Had a merry blast for another 90 mins or so, came in for a break...

Wind picked up again, swapped the Carve for the Mystery, and went out again, only this time dangerously overpowered (must've been over 30kts again) and worried I was gonna break something. Struggled to get back to shore.

Had I been sensible I'd have called it a day there & then & rated it a '4*', but no..

Down with the 5.0, up with the 4.5 again, out I go... and end up schlogging with the Mystery coz the wind's dropped again, it's 5.0 time again.

By now I wasn't a happy bunny, Friggin' bloody wind!

Put everything away in a bit of a strop, but it'd been a good 9 hour session, and sadly my last in the Gorge before coming home :-(
